President Joe Biden’s doctor said Monday that Biden’s Covid-19 symptoms “have almost completely resolved,” four days after the 79-year-old was diagnosed with the virus.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor said Biden has “residual nasal congestion and minimal hoarseness.”
The president’s lungs are clear, and his pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiratory rate are normal.
Biden will continue to take antiviral Paxlovid, which he has been on for four days.
Despite the improvement in his symptoms, Biden will continue to isolate and is being “conscientious” to protect White House employees who must work closely to him.
Biden was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday. He has received both doses of the Covid vaccine, and two booster shots. During the course of his illness, Biden briefly suffered a low-grade fever that improved with the help of Tylonol. He has also had a deeper voice, congestion and fatigue. O'Connor previously said Biden was "most likely" infected with the BA.5 variant, which is responsible for the majority of Covid cases in the US
On Monday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) said he tested positive for Covid. He said is experiencing mild symptoms and is fully vaccinated. His diagnosis comes as Democrats hope to pass several key measures, including one protecting the right to same-sex and interracial marriages, before an upcoming recess.
