The US on Monday lifted a pandemic travel ban on visitors from 33 countries, and airline executives have said there has been a jump in bookings for international trips. Deliveries of wide-body jets, which are often used for international flights, were suspended for more than a year after Boeing disclosed several manufacturing defects and took extra time to inspect its jets Is.

American Airlines and United Airlines are the carriers with outstanding orders for the Dreamliner. Both carriers are aiming to expand international flight next year, making up for lost ground from two years of weak demand for foreign travel due to the pandemic and multiple travel restrictions.

American Airlines chief revenue officer Vasu Raja said the delivery of the Dreamliner will set the pace for its international expansion.

“It’s going to have a very meaningful impact on how fast we can build internationally,” King told CNBC.

Boeing’s 27 deliveries last month included 18 737 MAXs, one 747 freighter, one 767 freighter and two 777 freighters. Cargo jets and air freight capacity have been in high demand during the pandemic amid supply chain issues and the loss of carrying capacity from other passenger aircraft.

The manufacturer posted net orders for seven aircraft, including eight Max and two 777 freighters. It also recorded three cancellations, including two 787-10s for the air lease.
