Those who know me know how serious I am about bedding. I’ve been dubbed the Duchess of Duvet by my friends because I sleep under three, one of which is actually this amazing down comforter by Brooklinen (I have the all-season weight, but you can also get lightweight for summer and ultra-warm). If you’d like to join me luxuriating in the cloud of comfort, Brooklinen is having its annual birthday sale, offering 20% off best-selling items like sheets, robes, duvet covers and comforters with code BDAY. That means the top sleep retailer’s famous sheets are also up for grabs at a cheaper price. But don’t just take my word for it. We’re only just getting to know each other, so read on if you’d like to see what the experts have to say about it.
What reviewers say about the Brooklinen down comforter: Wirecutter named this comforter the best of 2021, noting its improved design over previous iterations. “The smooth cotton sateen shell kept all the down in place during our shake tests, too, and after continued use since early 2021, the Brooklinen is still in fantastic shape,” the reviewer notes. And a reviewer at Business Insider writes of the comforter: “Out of all the products I’ve tested over the last 5 years, this Brooklinen comforter is the one I recommend to friends and family the most.” Also, if it’s not for you, you do have options: The comforter comes with a one-year return policy and a two-year warranty.
All-Season Down Comforter — Full/Queen
This ultra-soft down comforter comes in three different weights and has a 100% long staple cotton shell. It was named Wirecutter’s best down comforter of 2021, and comes with a one-year return policy and two-year warranty.
The comforter comes in three weights: Lightweight, all-season and ultra-warm. Wirecutter prefers the all-season and notes “it’s lofty and so warm to sleep under (without overheating), and it doesn’t slide off the bed like some of the heavier comforters we’ve tried.” For what it’s worth, I agree with this assessment and am prone to overheating. When I’m not burying myself under a full mountain of duvets, I default to just using this one in milder weather.
Over 2,300 verified reviewers at Brooklinen give the comforter an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. “Best comforter I’ve ever owned. It’s cool to the touch for hot sleepers like myself, while not being cold,” writes one reviewer. “Hits that perfect balance somehow. I paired it with the classic duvet cover and I need an army to get me out of bed in the morning.” Honestly, same.
Other things to consider: Wirecutter says the sateen shell can be a little stiff, “but once the comforter was inside a duvet cover, we didn’t find it noticeable.” One of the Wirecutter testers didn’t think the comforter was hefty enough on its own (may I suggest adding additional duvets, sir.)
