Durst died of natural causes at San Joaquin General Hospital after being taken for testing from the California Health Care Facility, a nearby medical prison, where he was serving his term, according to his attorney, Chip Lewis.

Lewis said in a statement that his death was linked to a “litigation of medical issues” Durst’s legal team had reported to the court over the years.

Durst’s life was the subject of the hit 2015 HBO documentary miniseries The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durstow, in which he seemed to accept To commit murder while he didn’t realize he was being recorded.
