EA said it would immediately begin the search for a new CFO and that Mr. Jorgensen will help with that effort and with the newcomer’s transition to the company.

EA along with its peers has benefited from the pandemic lockdown. Last year, the company recorded the strongest June quarter sales in its 38-year history. But the health crisis has also hampered EA’s production flow. The launch of its next big release, “Battlefield 2042,” was recently delayed by a month for the holiday season, citing the challenges of working from home.

EA also named Chris Bruzzo, who is currently the company’s Executive Vice President, Marketing, Commercial and Positive Play, as Chief Experience Officer, tasked with building the social ecosystem at EA Games.

EA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
