Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared to ridicule CBS on Sunday afternoon for saying he was returning to Twitter after a temporary suspension of its use on the platform for security reasons.

The news outlet said CBS News and Stations will be resuming Twitter after a break for most of the weekend to assess “security concerns.”

In his characteristically brief manner, Musk responded to the post with a blushing “face with hand covering mouth” emoji, which usually suggests a shy laugh or embarrassment.

CBS News was one of the first major media companies to leave Twitter following threats from Musk’s critics that they would leave the platform as soon as he took over the company.

The network confirmed the move during Friday’s edition of CBS Evening News with Nora O’Donnell. During a segment called “Twitter Turmoil,” CBS News national correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti reported on mass layoffs of employees offended by Musk’s “ultimatum” to employees last week, asking them to take on an “extremely heavy” workload or leave the company.

A CBS News story quoted a fired former engineer as saying Twitter culture under Musk was “definitely a culture of fear and insecurity, anxiety.” Midway through the segment, Vigliotti announced the publication’s decision to suspend Twitter.

He said, “In light of the uncertainty around Twitter and as a precaution, CBS News is suspending its activity on the social networking site while continuing to monitor the platform.”
