Germany’s industrial production rose on month in June, despite the intensification of supply-chain problems and higher energy prices.

Total industrial output–comprising production in manufacturing, energy and construction–increased 0.4% in June from the previous month in calendar-adjusted terms, the national statistics office Destatis said Friday. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a 0.3% rise.

The increase in industrial production in May was revised to a 0.1% contraction from a previously reported 0.2%.

Manufacturing production rose 0.7% on month in June and construction output fell 0.8%, while energy production stagnated, the data showed.

On an annual basis, industrial output fell 0.5% in June, Destatis said.

Germany’s industrial-production data follows the publication of manufacturing orders on Thursday, which fell 0.4% on month in June in adjusted terms.
