This should add some convenience ahead of the busy holiday shopping season, as it makes it easy to see your orders without having to go through all your messages.

Gmail will, in the coming weeks, provide a small green indicator in your inbox that shows when a package has shipped and when it is expected to arrive. If you tap on Email, you’ll see more information like tracking the package and order details from the shipper. It will also provide the status of the package with labels, for example, “Arriving Tomorrow” or “Delivered Today.” It will let you know if there is a delay.

The option will not be on by default. Google will provide a pop-up asking you to choose to allow status updates if you wish. And if you decide you no longer need notifications, you can turn it off in Settings.
