Hong Kong Disneyland closed for the day on Wednesday after a visitor to the park tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, just weeks after Shanghai Disneyland was temporarily closed in a case, unlike the US, where Disney K’s theme parks have lifted social distancing measures and stayed open through the local COVID-19 surge.
Hong Kong Disneyland said It closed Wednesday with “an abundance of caution” so that affected employees can be tested for COVID-19 “soon” with CNN. Reporting The park was closed after a visitor tested initial positive for Covid-19.
The Hong Kong government, which has a majority stake in the theme park, on Sunday directed any visitor to the park between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to take a COVID-19 test by Thursday.
The Shanghai case resulted in the park’s guests and staff being locked inside the theme park on October 31 until everyone was traced – about 34,000 people could be tested.
Hong Kong and mainland China are using aggressive measures to eliminate the coronavirus, and both theme parks have mandatory wearing of masks, temperature checks and physical distancing.
