Renewable energy leader Iberdrola invites startups to participate in its Autonomous Offshore Inspection Startup Challenge. Iberdrola seeks fully autonomous or remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that will optimize inspection of Iberdrola’s offshore assets, with particular focus on detecting anomalies and defects in wind turbine blades and foundations , however is not limited.
Iberdrola is well established as a global leader in the offshore wind market. Offshore wind has become a major growth vector for Iberdrola with current offshore wind assets of 1.26 GW and another 9.6 GW of pipeline, under development and construction, expected to be in operation by 2027.
Does your solution optimize autonomous offshore inspections for wind power assets?
The offshore environment can be harsh with extreme weather conditions. Iberdrola is looking for UAV solutions that are able to withstand these conditions and optimize maintenance oversight, reducing cost and time, as well as making it safer for its employees. To this challenge, Iberdrola seeks solutions that include the following:
Fully autonomous self-driving or remotely operated vehicle (FASDV or ROV). Beyond Visual Line of sight (BVLOS) technology of the site. Inspection systems for wind turbine components, including blades and foundations. Minimal or zero downtime for wind turbines. Image/video capture and position scan with subsequent data analysis. Complete inspection package including 3D modeling and digital twin solutions. Preventive maintenance and in-situ repair, if necessary. Solutions that address both above and below water inspection.
However, if your offer does not meet this challenge, it will also be analyzed, provided the competitive advantages of offering a specific type of site are clearly explained.
