The videogame company said it would replace Mr. Gruden with a “generic likeness” in “Madden NFL 22”.

Businesshala reported Friday that Mr Gruden used a racial trope in a 2011 email to describe NFLPA executive director Demoris Smith, saying: “Dumboris Smith’s lips are the size of a Michelin tire. ” The league said it was “notified of the existence of emails that raised issues beyond the scope of that investigation.”

The New York Times later reported That Mr Gruden used offensive language in several other cases as well, including anti-gay language. He was dropped as the Raiders coach shortly after.

“I love the Raiders and don’t want to be a distraction,” Mr Gruden said in a statement earlier this week. “Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff and fans of Raider Nation. I’m sorry, I never meant to offend anyone.”
