Mariah Carey’s Hit Song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has become synonymous with the holiday season, topped the charts annually and became one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Now, McDonald’s is aiming to juice up its holiday sales through a collaboration with the pop star, announcing Wednesday that it’s teaming up with her to promote 12 Days of Deals in December.
Carrie is the latest celebrity to partner with the fast-food giant to spotlight its menu items. Rapper Travis Scott, reggaeton singer J. Balvin and K-pop group BTS have already participated in the famous Order promotions. Each time it has attracted young consumers to the burger chain and increased sales of its classic menu items such as the Quarter Pounder. However, Carey will get an entire menu named after her.
Maria’s Menu is available in the United States starting December 13. For 12 days, customers who spend at least $1 on the company’s app will receive the specified item of the day for free, packed in a bag designed in collaboration with Carrie.
The deals are only available through the McDonald’s app, which should help drive the company’s digital sales growth and convince users to join its loyalty program. Since the launch of its US loyalty program in early July, the company has enrolled more than 21 million members with 15 million active users.
Maria’s menu features top-selling menu items such as a Big Mac, six McNuggets, a sausage biscuit, and Carrie’s favorite – a cheeseburger. Carrie said in a statement that she usually orders it with extra pickles.
Other fast-food chains are also leaning towards collaborations with celebrities. Restaurant Brands International’s Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen teamed up with rapper Megan Thee Stallion, while Yum Brands’ Taco Bell made Lil Nas X its chief effects officer this August.
McDonald’s shares are up 17% this year, bringing the fast-food giant’s market valuation to $187 billion.
