Mediaset NV is changing its name to MFE-MediaforEurope NV and creating a dual-class share structure, which it calls a step forward towards the creation of a pan-European media conglomerate.
The Italian broadcaster, run by the family of former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, said on Thursday that shareholders supported a dual-class share structure with a name change and different voting rights, a move that could be used to finance potential M&A transactions. Will provide more flexibility.
“These measures and our excellent business results give us the prospect of looking to the future in terms of international development,” said chief executive Pier Silvio Berlusconi, son of the former Italian prime minister.
The company expects the new dual-class share structure to take effect before January, with both A and B shares having equal economic rights and listed on Euronext Milan, managed by Borsa Italiana.
