Fans of pickled cucumbers are in for a “chilling dill” treat.
Boston-based Grillo’s Pickles and Massachusetts-based ice cream brand JP Licks have teamed up to create a brand new pickle flavored ice cream.
The sweet and savory treat will be available at all 17 JP Licks locations on National Pickle Day – Monday, November 14, 2022.

According to a press release, the collaboration between the two Boston-based brands is a first.
JP Licks, Boston’s favorite ice cream shop, and Grillo’s Pickles, a brand of fresh, all-natural refrigerated pickles, are excited to announce a new collaboration that pairs the flavor of Grillo’s favorite homemade pickles with JP Licks’ sweet creamy ice cream. “, the release says.
The ice cream tastes “like a classic pickled cucumber” with “a bit of vinegar” in every scoop, the companies say.
“This flavor combination might make some of our customers scratch their heads, and we love it,” JP Licks founder and owner Vincent Petric said in a statement.
“Our sweet ice cream is such an amazing and spicy combination with the delicious homemade flavors of local Grillo pickles – we can’t wait to hear what people think of this new ice cream flavor.”
Grillo brand director Eddie Andre said the pickle company is “excited” to partner with another Boston-based brand that has a “strong local following.”

“We wanted to give Boston gourmets something unique and unexpected this National Pickle Day, and we know this limited edition pickle-inspired flavor will make every taste bud scream for (pickled) ice cream,” he said.
Grillo’s Pickles has also partnered with several additional brands in honor of National Pickle Day.
These include the limited edition release of Grillo’s signature Polaroid camera; sterling silver pendant with Good Art jewelry; and the Grillo brine-infused brine beer served at Lord Hobo Brewery and The Friendly Toast Restaurant.

Grillo’s Pickles is known for its 100-year-old family pickle recipe, according to a press release.
The original recipe was first sold off a cart in Boston for $1 per cucumber.
“We are delighted with all the unexpected ways Grillo’s exists and [is] in honor of our Boston roots that started the brand,” said Andre.
“These partnerships mark a new chapter for Grillo’s Pickles and provide just a glimpse of what’s in store for us in the new year.”
