The $1.3 billion amount is 30% higher than the record $1.01 billion in betting played in New Jersey in September, marking the first time a state has crossed the billion dollar mark in a single month.

According to the Division of Gaming Enforcement, about 90% of October’s bets, or $1.18 billion, were placed online, while the remaining $124.2 million was placed on physical sports books.

New Jersey earned $45.8 million in total gaming taxes in October, roughly equal to the $46 million it brought in in September.
