A new year can create an urge to handle holiday returns, use gift cards, or eat a meal to celebrate.
But be aware: In the midst of the ongoing global pandemic, choosing a New Year’s Day activity can be even more difficult. Business hours will change and some shops will remain closed.
To help you plan your holiday shopping and dining experiences, listed below are some of the places that will be closed on the Saturday after ours in 2022.
Many restaurants, stores open on New Year’s Day
If you want to dine out or shop on New Year’s Day, there will be plenty to choose from.
While most chains are closed during major holidays such as Christmas, many businesses are keeping their doors open to celebrate the new year.

Most major restaurants, coffee shops and businesses are scheduled to remain open, but it can be a franchise decision whether a store opens over the holidays, so check with your nearest location before heading out the door.
Some stores, restaurants closed on New Year’s Day
Many grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations and restaurants will have limited hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

For example, many Chick-fil-A restaurant will close Both Fridays and Saturdays are open at 6 p.m. local time, but the fast-food chain said hours of operation may still vary by store.
