Katz said that her client, whom she declined to name, came forward after making on-air comments about Cuomo caring about sexual assault issues and after the revelation that she had married her brother, a former New Yorker. Katz said in a statement, “Frustrated by the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s on-air words and his efforts to denigrate these women, my client called on a lawyer to report his serious sexual misconduct against him to CNN. retained.”
He reported the allegations to CNN, she said, and offered to provide “documentary evidence” of his allegations.
“My client came forward at this time because she felt, in sharing her story and related documentation, she could help protect other women,” Katz said. Katz also represents Charlotte Bennett, a former health policy adviser in the administration of Andrew Cuomo, who accused the former governor of unfair treatment.
Chris Cuomo’s spokesman, Steven Goldberg, issued a statement on Sunday denying the allegations.
“To the extent that Chris Cuomo was sent to CNN for denying what his audience said, he stands completely by his on-air statements regarding his connection to these issues, both professional and In a deeply personal way. If the goal of making these were false and unproven allegations by CNN to punish Mr. Cuomo, that could explain his unfair termination,” Goldberg said.
