Only 20 thatched cottages across the country are available for rent on real estate website Zoopla.
We pick five of these coveted properties and look inside with fireplaces and low wood-beamed ceilings.

Their rental prices range from the cheapest on our list at £850 a month for a one-bedroom cottage in Northamptonshire to the highest, more than double that amount per month for a five-bedroom cottage in Norfolk.
What they all have in common is the fact that they live in a rural area with far-reaching views of the countryside.
This follows the latest data showing that the average UK rent was £1,175 per month in February, up 0.3% from the previous month.
Andy Halstead of HomeLet & Let Alliance, which produced the data, said: “The rental market continues to suffer from a shortage of affordable properties to meet rising demand.
“If the amount of available property does not increase in line with demand, then prices will inevitably remain high and rise even higher as the struggle between tenants for property intensifies.”
