STOCKHOLM – Tele2AB said Thursday it will provide its Internet of Things platform for managing devices connected to Elonrod, a Swedish startup that has developed technology that allows electric vehicles to be charged while driving.

“Tele2 IoT is taking a step forward in the field of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and moving towards a sustainable automotive industry by providing equipment connections to allroads,” the company said.

Elonroad has developed a solution where electric vehicles – cars, buses and trucks – can be charged while driving, regardless of manufacturer.

The solution involves a rail installed directly on the asphalt and integrated with the road, the company said.

“Our smart electric road needs to be connected to the Internet so that we can control, optimize and collect payments from users,” said Carin Ebbinghaus, chief executive of Elonroad.

“The agreement with Tele2 is business-critical for us on our continuing journey.”
