There would be no rich flex from a Toronto rapper like Adesanya defeated by TKO Pereira cost him $2 million. Adesanya was the favorite over Pereira before the fight and Drake was set to earn $2,900,000 if the fighter were to win.

Pereira and Adesanya fought in the fifth round of the main event in New York, and it was the Brazilian who stunned the champion and captured the UFC middleweight title. Pereira defeated Adesanya via TKO as he was able to capitalize on several hard punches.

“For everyone who said I couldn’t do five rounds, look what I just did,” Pereira said through an interpreter to the Madison Square Garden crowd.

Pereira hits Adesanya with a brutal right hook that sent the champ back into the cage. From there, Pereira went on the offensive. Both men used most of their energy in the second and third rounds, trying to gain an advantage using their ground game.
