While we were in Paris, we had drinks with three guys who started their careers in Web 1.0 in the mid-90s. They are all super smart and still deep in technology; Interestingly, all of them live abroad.

I started writing this blog almost 20 years, on 4th October 2003. One of the reasons I started after Web 1.0 exploded and Web 2.0 made a lot of noise was that I didn’t want to lose my connection to everyone in the first generation of the Web. I also decided that blogging is a new platform and could lead me somewhere; Of course, it was only mine.

Many people from that first generation of the web went in different directions after the explosion. Many New Yorkers moved to LA, others to SF. Some have withdrawn from the World Wide Web altogether. I have seen many people marry and have children. Somehow I was always the oldest in the room.

I love to hear what these three people are doing now and what they have been doing for the last twenty years. Apart from working on the cannabis drama, I am also working on a documentary-series about women. If all goes well, it may even be a qualified doctor. Maybe it has to do with growing up, but capturing the stories of the many people watching something in that first generation of the web were all early adopters. I know it wasn’t a huge group of people because I talked to most of the people in the NY technology area daily at Silicon Alley Reporter, where I oversaw all revenue.

If you’re someone from that world, email me and let me know what you’re up to. I would love to hear from you.
